Book club - November edition
My goodness - I cannot believe it's been a month since my October edition. Welcome back to everyone in the club! Last month I recommended an easy read by my all time favourite author - if you missed that one click here. So this month I thought I’d go for something a bit darker as I absolutely love me a thriller. As long as the story line is good and it’s not all just about murder then count me in.
So, I’d like to introduce to you ‘The Girl Before’ by JP Delaney.
I absolutely loved this book! There are two main characters - Emma and Jane - and both of their stories run parallel to each other. Similar to The Girl On The Train if you’ve ever read that… So you have to adjust to swapping characters but once you’re in - you’re in.
There are so many twists and turns and it’s honestly just such a great thriller. A film version is also in the making which is very very exciting.
Here’s the blurb:
‘Jane stumbles on the rental opportunity of a lifetime: the chance to live in a beautiful ultra minimalist house designed by an enigmatic architect, on condition she abides by a long list of exacting rules. After moving in, she discovers that a previous Tennant, Emma, met a mysterious death there - and starts to wonder if her own story will be a re-run of the girl before. As twist after twist catches the reader off guard, Emma’s past and Jane’s present become inexorably entwined in the tense, page-turning portrayal of psychological obsession.’
I found it on Amazon for around £5 here. It’s the perfect Christmas present if you’re organised enough to be buying already (not me!). I really hope you enjoy this one as I absolutely loved it. You know the kind of book you read but wish you could forgot so you could re-read it…
See you soon,
