Get ready with me - Blog style
This was truly such a magical evening. The venue was phenomenal and I got to wear the prettiest dress I have ever owned - so I thought I’d let you know all the details. Also as a way to keep this memory for me to look back on!
Firstly, let’s talk about the dress. I’m completely in love with it!! I bought this from Quiz for £89.99, which is a pretty good price considering just how pretty it is. The sequins scratched my arms and back to shreds but, it was absolutely worth it. It’s currently on sale here for £69.99! I’m wearing size 8 for reference.
As for the hair? Well, I had absolutely no spare time to do anything nice with it. So I simply ran the straighteners (GHDs) through the front and just hoped for the best!
Let’s talk about shoes next. You can’t see them in any of the pictures however I wore a black, strappy pair from Topshop and they were perfect. I’m only 5ft 3” so the dress was pretty long on me - but the heels added just enough height! I mean, I did take them off towards the end of the night (after rather a few gins [and lots of prosecco… maybe some tequila too]) as they were starting to hurt. But mostly so I could dance more easily. Here’s a link to the shoes. They’re currently on sale too but there are only a few sizes left available.
Lastly, makeup. I decided to go for natural makeup, both because the dress was so completely extra and also because I normally go for a more natural makeup look anyway.
For foundation, I used my L’oreal true match in the shade 40 (I can’t remember the name). I then went in with NYX HD Studio Photogenic concealer in the shade CW 04 on any blemishes, under my eyes and along my nose to contour slightly. I also used a little L. A Girl PRO. conceal in Beautiful Bronze to contour. I blended it all together with a damp beauty blender. I then set all this with Rimmel powder in transparent (truly the best powder I’ve ever used).
I went in with benefit Hoola bronzer to add some colour back into my complexion once my base was finished. I had used (a lot of) fake tan for this evening so I had to go all in with the bronze. I then used the Collection Highlight Sculpt Kit to contour my cheekbones. I dabbed some Benefit Watt’s Up (my all time fave highlighter) along my cheekbones, the centre of my nose and a little on my cupids bow.
On to brows - I brushed my brows out using a little brush and then went in with the NYX Eyebrow Gel in 03 Brunette. This stuff is amazing! I use a little eyeliner brush by Real Techniques for this as I can make tiny strokes that look like real brow hairs. I then set them with Rimmel London’s Brow This Way, in 002 Medium Brown. However, I would absolutely not recommend this product. The brush is way too big and holds way too much product - it goes everywhere!
Now for eyes, I kept it pretty simple. I used the shade ‘White Peach’ from the Too Faced Sweet Peach palette all over the lid. I then used the Real Technique brush 201 with the shade ‘Summer Yum’ from the palette along my crease and smoked it out towards the outer edge. I then used a little brush with some of the benefit highlighter in my inner corner and under my brows for a bit of a pop. I then just did a bit of a winged liner using the Revlon Colorstay Liquid Eye Pen in 01 Blackest Black and lined my upper waterline with the Rimmel Waterproof Kohl Kajal in Black and then finished off with some mascara! I use Maybelline the Falsies Volume Express and it’s truly the best mascara in the entire world.
Lastly, I just popped on some Soap & Glory Sexy Mother Pucker gloss. I use the XL Extreme-Plump in clear and it’s absolutely phenomenal. I realised as I’m writing this that I may have actually lost it on Saturday - I’ll be repurchasing that tomorrow then.
I finished off with a spritz of Olympea by Paco Rabanne, put on my black clutch from Nasty Gal and I was done! I was ready in 40 minutes even though this blog post makes it sound like it took forever.
I hope you enjoyed this post and maybe gave you a little inspo for the Christmas season.
See you soon for my fake tan routine,
